Every year, around three billion glasses are sold worldwide. And after buying a new pair of glasses, the old glasses usually end up in a drawer or even in the trash. With Ciircle, this is a thing of the past.
Thousands of old glasses are collected, disassembled and sorted by color and quality. The frames are broken into small pieces and the metal parts are filtered out. Around 98% of the material can be recycled. The result is millions of tiny, irregular pieces of acetate. This will be the new raw material.
All material is cleaned to ensure future quality. The millions of acetate pieces are then melted down into new acetate together with pre-consumer waste (leftovers from production). This new Regrind acetate is ISCC plus patented and bio-circularly certified.
